Knox Church Appeal

Laying the foundation for the next 150 years

Here's to another 150 years

150 years ago, the foundation stone of Knox Church was laid. On the occasion of its 150th birthday, we would like to invite you to contribute to laying the foundation for the next 150 years.

Knox is more than a landmark building at the heart of Ōtepoti Dunedin. It is a community of people and a place to belong. A place where people gather for worship, where music lifts spirits, and where key events are marked and celebrated together.

Knox yesterday and today

Thousands have passed through Knox's doors. Students have found community. Families have been strengthened. Choristers have honed their skills. People have been empowered to serve. Former Knox people now live all over the world.

Today, Knox continues to progress, advocating on social justice issues, valuing diversity and engaging a wide range of outlooks. Families, students, young professionals, and older people all find a sense of belonging at Knox.

What will we see?

Spiritual and social support for all people including students, workers, families and retired folk;

More involvement in music, performing and visual arts;

Strengthened relations with our longstanding neighbours such as the tertiary institutions and those who live and work in the north of the city;

Continued advocacy on social issues;

Ongoing development of the Knox site to meet contemporary needs.

The next 150 years

Now is the time to lay a foundation for Knox to progress into the next 150 years. With your support we will continue to have an impact in people's lives and in the community.

We invite you to contribute to a capital fund that can generate income to maintain the iconic building and increase community engagement. You may wish to do so remembering a family member or other person who identified with Knox.
